On February 23rd I went to my primary care doctor [thanks to tricare rules] and got the regular pap done, blood work, and a urine pregnancy test. According to the tests my pap was regular, my pregnancy was confirmed, and all my blood levels were right where they are supposed to be!!!
Then On March 1st, I was sent to my OB/GYN who is Dr. Matthew Ting. My great-aunt Linda used him for years and LOVED him sooo much, while my friend and cousin Sam used him in her pregnancy and switched at 30 weeks because she did NOT like him. I am just hoping everything goes well and I don't have to switch.
Anyway- while I was there they took another urine test, and then we did an ultrasound. This was right at my eight week mark. According the the ultrasound though, I measured at 7weeks3days, and my baby was in the 29th percentile. I guess I either ovulated at a slightly different time, or my baby is just small but either way the doctor said it is still early on and I can keep my due date of October 11, 2011. Also, during the ultrasound we were able to see the little baby's heart beat, and even HEAR the heartbeat. This was the most amazing sound I have ever heard. I cried, and Stephen even got choked up about it. I cannot believe we really are creating this miracle. I cannot wait to meet my little boy or girl. :-]
It was really good that Stephen was able to come to this appointment with me and hear the heartbeat, we weren't sure if he was going to be able to be here for that. I love having Stephen by my side, and it is going to be heartbreaking doing this without him while he is gone. I know it is worth it though, and our baby will appreciate the advantages when he/she gets a little older. I still haven't been sick. I am REALLY SLEEPY, but that is about it- and for this I am thankful. I am so glad that I haven't had morning sickness yet, and I hope that it stays that way.
